Fw: HOT! FRUAD ALTERT: Scam Targeting Callers

From: "Secor, Kevin" <Kevin.Secor@va.gov>
Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2013 18:29:50 -0500
Subject: HOT! FRUAD ALTERT: Scam Targeting Callers
Lady’s and Gentlemen,
FRAUD ALERT:  Veterans should be aware of a marketing scam targeting callers trying to reach the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Call Center or GI Bill Call Center.  A marketing company has established two fraudulent numbers that differ from the two official VA call center numbers by one digit.  If the fraudulent number is dialed by mistake, the answering party will offer a gift card and try to obtain personal and financial information, including credit card information, from the caller.  The answering party may even transfer the caller to the VA after the caller’s information is obtained.  Note that VA will never ask you for a credit card number or banking information over the phone. Before giving personal sensitive information over the phone make sure you know who you are taking to.
The numbers to be avoided are:
800-872-1000  (the VA National Call Center number is 800-827-1000)
888-442-4511 (the VA GI Bill Call Center number is 888-442-4551)
VA has notified law enforcement authorities to address this situation.  Please pass this information along and post on your websites.

FW: MOPH Region VI Weekly Report 11/7-13/13

Subject: FW: MOPH Region VI Weekly Report 11/7-13/13
Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2013 12:18:14 -0800

Commander Small and Jim Richards:

Please see weekly reports generated by Region VI NSOs, 11/7-13/2013:

San Diego VARO:
I have started back on continuing my  quest for MOPH space in Central CA somewhere between Fresno/Clovis area south to Bakersfield.
Traveled to VAMC Long Beach and conducted a Site Visit and NSO Annual Evaluation and traveled back to San Diego.  There will be two (2) new hires starting 11/18/13, (1 NSO at  VAMC Sepulveda/Wadsworth/1AA at VARO LA); and, one (1) AA that was promoted to NSO, starting to be trained as well.
Attended Veteran's Day Parade.
Submitted the evals and site visit reports for VARO LA and VAMC Long Beach.
I continue to do sign offs daily and continue training of new NSO and AA in VARO SD location.  I continue my follow-ups on NODs and Appeals, as well as responding to phone calls, emails, claim review, etc.
Eddie Kimes, NSO - Las Vegas:
Completed and arranged claim input in VCMS. Searched for any claims that has changed status in SHARE. Veteran with 1pm appointment filed new claim.
General office duties and returned phone calls from phone messages. Searched claim statuses.
Met with veteran who had a request an overpayment adjustment. I assisted him with the necessary paperwork for submittal to PMC.   Also veteran came in to file a service connectedclaim for benefits.
Went to Vet Center to meet veteran group for consultation purposes.  Went back to office to address phone messages, return calls and other office duties.
Filed dependent claim.

Joseph Phillips, NSO - VAMC Long Beach, CA:
Received several phone calls from Social Workers here at the VAMC about Vets hospital records showing that they are 100% SC and receiving A&A but the Vets claim they are not 100% or receiving A&A.  In all cases the hospital records are wrong. Social Workers will check with VSOs before turning down vets for in home health care services.
I continue seeing Vets about a myriad of veterans services.  I continue purging files of unnecessary documents to make more room in files drawers.  Per my RFS I had the archive file moved from the copy room into my office.  I inputted award letters into VCMS.  Assisted homeless vet with getting a meal and tokens to go to US Vets homeless program.
Tony DeVore, NSO - VARO San Diego, CA:
There were many walk-in appointments along with phone calls and several follow-up phone calls regarding pending claims and appeals with the Dept. of VA.   A lot of data input from the DTA letters to also include Awards & Rating Decisions received.  Several new claims were filed with the Dept. of VA.

Arthur Harris, NSO - VARO Oakland, CA:

This week phone calls are normal have had an appointment every day this week with a veteran. Also there was a Service Center meeting with all the VSOs in the area, the topic was ratings in VBMS will no longer be printed by the Service center so we have to check the ratings in VBMS.   There was also a veterans rally in front of the building that caused a minor crowd to form but no effects on the persons working at the RO. Also we got a veteran an effective date of January 1976 for his service connection with a retro of $38,949.

Tennell Brady, NSO - VARO Los Angeles, CA:

During the week, this office conducted several interviews, responded to many calls and submitted many claims to the VA.  Began instructing new employees regarding rules and policies of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and demonstrating how this office operates to include showing login procedures for VCMS, ADP, Concur, and other tools used in this office.  Also continue to update files and input remaining awards left from previous NSO.  Ventured to the West LA hospital office to begin packing, because of the renovation project being conducted at that office.

Ron Quinata, NSO - Guam:

Sick Leave, Friday.  Attended the annual Veterans Day Ceremonies held at the Governor's Office Grounds, a very
solemn hour of remembrance of those who have gone before us and continues to preserve our Freedom. Guest speakers from military, Governor and finally awards to Veterans of the Year from different veterans
organizations and villages.  Assisted several veterans regarding claims. Documents submitted to VBA for processing with date stamped on file copies as well.  Continued assisting with recurrent claims, administrative
and telephone calls.

Jay Parker, NSO - VARO Phoenix:
I visited the hospital as I always do.  I learned we have a new director so I must build new bridges.
I spend two or three mornings each week at the Vet Center (before opening our office).  They have stationed a Psychologist at the center so now reports from there will carry more weight than one from a social worker.
General office duties, review decisions which are a little slower this week because this RO is pretty empty this last week due to annual leave.  Data entry, purging, training Lisa, she is doing well.
Cheryl Paden, NSO - VAMC Tucson:
I now have VBMS again, I did not need to reapply, Jay worked with the IRM to get it back to me.  I also have SEP and it is up and working.
Participated in "Home Again" and met with Veterans and explained paperwork and handed out some homework.
Received messages about their claims pending and phoned to check status of claim filed in June and found out that VA has him listed as being dead, since 8-18-2004, everything has been sent to the Phoenix RO to get this problem straightened out.
Reviewed decision Letters and entered all information into VCMS, filing and general office duties.
I handed out paperwork/homework to Veterans so I can file FDC claims for them and filed claims, VCAA's.
Raphael Paris, NSO - VARO Honolulu:
Conducted several interviews with veterans getting ready to exit out of the service and/or already out of service, filed new POAs, submitted claims to VA, both New claims and informal claims.  Informal claims veteran is working on getting medical records will submit FDC at later date.
Met with veteran who has been represented through MOPH San Diego office, requested transfer in VCMS from San Diego NSO as veteran now resides in Hawaii.  Received VA correspondence letters an award letters for both Honolulu and Guam, mailed out letters to Guam.   Returned/received calls from veterans asking for status of claim, also spoke to veterans in reference to va examinations.
Continue input into VCMS of awards, claims, etc.  General office duties, including making of new files, purging. Follow-up on pending claims.

Breana King, NSO - VAMC Loma Linda:

We have a new director and public affairs person we havent had any meetings or anything.
I saw several Vets this weeks, filed several claims and signed new POAs, as well as submitted evidence for pending claims.  I used part of Friday catching up on filing, data entry and getting all of my mail out for the week and returning all phone calls.  I have several OIE-OEF Vets who have come in and filled out their necessary forms (21-22, 21-526EZ, DD-214), but they wish to have their claim processed through the FDC program so I am just waiting a copy of their STRs which I should have by Friday.

Michael Mullen, NSO - VAMC La Jolla:

This was a slow week of work for me, I was answering calls, returning messages, I saw fewer clients than normal, submitted evidence, and entered some ratings.   I assisted several veterans in sending off for STRs so we can decide if they have possible claim.   Most of those veterans were computer illiterate and required my assistance to do it online.   Its now been over a week since I put in a work order with the ITT department, because my printer and fax stopped working due to a Windows 7 update the VA made the other day.   I have called several times and all they tell me is that Im listed as a priority work order.   Ive been scheduling appointments with veterans for later in this week because of this issue, but now these veterans will start coming in tomorrow and its still not resolved.   I will have to call and reschedule with some of them tomorrow If dont hear any news from IT by the morning.

Erin Hamlin, NSO - Salt Lake City:
Made and returned numerous phone calls.  I continue my efforts to go through my office files and get them in order. 11 BDD/PLCP Rating Decisions and no PLCP SOCs.  I forwarded 8 PLCP Development Letters.

Fw: Region VI MOPH Weekly Report 10/30-11/06/13

Commander Small and Jim Richards:

Please see weekly reports generated by Region VI NSOs, 10/31-11/6/2013:

San Diego VARO:
Traveled to VARO Los Angeles and conducted several interviews for two NSO positions open in VARO Los Angeles office and VAMC Sepulveda and Wadsworth office.
Have hired new NSO for Sepulveda/Wadsworth; promoted AA at VARO LA to NSO and hired new AA to take his place.  All new applicants will be starting their positions on 11/18/2013.  I will be cafefully monitoring all progress and helping each of them in any way I can, to insure our veterans are properly represented.
Performed Site Visit and completed Annual Evaluations on both NSO and AA at VARO LA.
Will be traveling to Long Beach VAMC tomorrow, (11/7/13).  I will be conducting Annual Site Visit and completing annual evaluation for NSO at that location.
Continue to speak with veterans via phone that have issues and answer their questions.  Speaking to the NSO within Jurisdiction of that particular veteran and making sure all parties understand the importance of filing proper claims, following up on provisional claims, etc.  Continuing sign offs and training of new NSO and AA in VARO SD location.   Have followed-up on the NODs and appeals, as well as responding to phone calls, emails, claim review, etc.
Eddie Kimes, NSO - Las Vegas:
End of the month data entry awards for monthly report. Submitted  claim docs sent by mail and searched VCMS for tickle date indicating that claim could be resolved.  Filed two service connected claims for increase.

Met with a veteran who needed assistance obtaining medical records from RMC, and helped him receive his personal records and DD214 three weeks prior. Veteran walked in with appeal documents to fax to VBA Litigation Office. A veteran who made appointment for afternoon filed new service connected claim and POA.

Veteran whose claim is in appeals process walked in to check status.  Checked VCMS for tickle dates that indicated that claims were complete or close to completion.  I do not receive award and decision letters from Reno until 2-3 months later.  Brokered claim letters are either faxed or mailed to me from their RO sooner.  If I find that a claim has been completed, I log on to Virtual VA for details.  I found two completed claims to report.  Veteran came in with VCAA Notice Response to submit with new documents (med records) and I assisted with completing three 21-4142 forms for submittal.

Another veteran came in and I filed claim for increase of existing conditions and for new conditions and also took new POA.

Traveled to Vet Center to meet veteran and file new claim, NOD for denied claim and new POA.  Went back to office to address phone messages, return calls and other office duties.

Joseph Phillips, NSO - VAMC Long Beach, CA:
I assisted a 93 year old Vets widow in re-establishing her property tax exemption after it was dropped because she did a reverse mortgage on her home.

When the VAMC LB moved all VSOs to our current location, I lost half of the file and storage space that I had at the previous location.  I received keys for a file cabinet in the copier room this week, which was moved to my office.  I am transferring files this week.  The VA installed Windows 7 this week, minor problems are all fixed.

I received 2013 edition of the Veterans Benefit Manual and The 38 USCS & CFR.

Attended the Caregiver Resource Fair.  Made 3 appointments and answered numerous questions from Vets and civilian agencies.

I started purging files of unnecessary documents to make more room in files drawers.
Tony DeVore, NSO - VARO San Diego, CA:
This past week has been very busy with incoming phone calls and veterans stopping into the office.  Have been helping the NSOs at the VAMCs obtain the information they needed to enter veterans into VCMS or to enter Awards & Rating Decisions into VCMS.
Have meet with a few veterans some submitting evidence in support of pending claims or NODs.  Now that SHARE has updated the Retros to reflect payments, Ive been entering in my awards into VCMS.
Attended the SEP VSO Introduction meeting on 10/31/13.  It was very informative. Tried to log into the program a couple of times but the system continued to give errors.  Im awaiting a call back from our local SEP expertise to contact me back regarding this matter.

Arthur Harris, NSO - VARO Oakland, CA:

Normal amount of phone calls to the office to include claims that are processed in VCMS.  Had three, appointments with veterans dealing with the veterans trying to get increases in there disability.

Attended a satellite phone conference with VA San Francisco it was the quarterly meeting.   We discussed the new methods that they using to help veterans with Parkasins and the new CT scans that they have access to this included the introductions to the new members that they have at the San Francisco VA.

Tennell Brady, NSO - VARO Los Angeles, CA:

Called potential candidates to confirm date of their interview for the vacant position of National Service Officer for the LARO, and the VAMC Sepulveda/Wadsworth for this organization.  Also participated in round table discussion with VA management concerning the current status on pending renovation of the LA Regional Office.

During the week, this office conducted many interviews, responded to over 75 calls and submitted several claims to the VA.  Participated with the RFS in interviewing the potential candidates for the vacant NSO positions, and aided in the on-site Annual Evaluation and Site visit conducted by the RFS, for both myself and AA.

Ron Quinata, NSO - Guam:

Received two award letters totaling $67,000.  Assisted a military personnel soon to retire as a result of TAPS
briefing at Navy Base, Guam.  Received award letter with IU.  Continued working with recurring claims, dependency and DICs including off-island clients from the Philippines and Pohnpei.

Answered and returned calls and entered data into VCMS, updating folders, etc.

Jay Parker, NSO - VARO Phoenix:
We are busy every day with client traffic.  This causes some potential clients to leave rather than waiting.

I have been  going to the vet center, talking to vets and handing out business cards.  I did set up in the hospital and answered questions, handed out business cards.  General office duties, data entry.
Cheryl Paden, NSO - VAMC Tucson:
I found out this week that for some reason I no longer had VBMS.   I had to contact Jay to let him know he had me call IRM, they stated I would need to reapply, but Jay being the awesome person is getting it turned back on.   I tried to sign onto SEP but the code did not work but I just received the new access code and I will now sign on.

I have received messages about their claims pending and 1 called to check on his claim I filed in June and found out that VA has him listed as being dead since 8-18-2004, so I am working on getting that straightened out..

I reviewed decision Letters and entered all information into VCMS.  I gave paperwork/homework to Veterans so I can file FDC claims for them.   I filed requests for address and phone number changes, VCAA's.

I have been preparing packages to take to Coming home on November 9th.   I have also been asked to put another package for death benefits for a client that is in Stage 4 cancer.

I have reviewed decision letters, worked on filing and general office duties.
Raphael Paris, NSO - VARO Honolulu:
Conducted several interviews with veterans getting ready to exit out of the service and/or already out of service, submitted claims to VA, both New claims and informal claims.  Informal  claims veteran is working on getting medical records will submit FDC at later date.

Helped a couple of veterans with annual clothing allowance form, informed veteran to take form to prosthetics office.

I saw several veterans, filed several new claims, new POAs, as well as submitting new evidence for pending claims.  Due to it being the end of the month, I worked on getting everything entered into VCMS and all mail sent out for the month.  I had 2 big Retros-$45,891 and $32,614.  Worked on filing and VCMS.  Awaiting return of medical records from one of my veterans to file POA and claim.

Continue with general office duties, telephone calls, etc.

Michael Mullen, NSO - VAMC La Jolla:

This was a pretty normal week of answering calls, returning messages, saw a lot of clients, submitted evidence, and entered some ratings.   Filed new POAs on veterans, while filing both new and increase S/C claims, and a few for pension.   I assisted several veterans in sending off for STRs so we can decide if they have possible claim.

Most of those veterans were computer illiterate and required my assistance to do it online.   Today I put in a work order with the ITT department, because my printer and fax stopped working due to some updates the VA made the other day with regards to installation of Windows 7.

Erin Hamlin, NSO - Salt Lake City:

Out for my sons IEP until 10:00am on 11/4/13 and out sick on 11/6/13.  I was at the Salt Lake City VA Stand Down on 11/1/2013.   I returned and made several phone calls.  Also, all of the Service Organizations have been informed that we are going to be moved to the first floor of the building, so I will be doubling my efforts to go through my office files and get them in order.  I had 11 BDD/PLCP Rating Decisions and no PLCP SOCs.

MOPH Region VI Weekly Reports 10/24-30/13

Commander Small and Jim Richards:

Please see weekly reports below, generated by Region VI NSOs, for the period:  10/24-30/2013:

San Diego VARO:
I am continuing my quest for MOPH space in Central CA somewhere between Fresno/Clovis area south to Bakersfield.
I am traveling to VARO Los Angeles next week to conduct interviews for two NSO positions open in VARO Los Angeles office and VAMC Sepulveda and Wadsworth office.
I will be traveling to Long Beach VAMC as well.   I will also  be conducting Site Visits and completing evaluations for current NSOs and AAs, at both locations.
I continue to do sign offs daily and continue training of new NSO and AA in VARO SD location. I have followed-up on the NODs and appeals, as well as responding to phone calls, emails, claim review, etc.
I continue to monitor and review VCMS reports, claims, POAs etc.
Eddie Kimes, NSO - Las Vegas:
Started last week on medical leave up until Tuesday 10/29.  Veteran who had an appointment came in an hour early from Utah to file service connected claim and new POA.  I checked all the phone messages that accumulated during time off.  Made phone calls and made appointments for future claims.  Checked VCMS for updates (tickle dates) of claim status and found that one veteran had been awarded for Aid and Attendance, but needs a fiduciary, thus no money awarded at this time.  The same veteran came into office in the afternoon as a walk-in and I explained to him and spouse how the VA payee system works in addition to other benefits that hes eligible for in relationship to his award.  Sent claim forms to veteran who lives in Bullhead City, AZ.  Sent direct deposit form to another vet.
Visited Vet Center and collected service connected claim for increase for submittal to VA.  I spoke with veteran in person who desired benefits information and also spoke with veteran by phone concerning information.  I returned back to my office in the afternoon and submitted completed claim documents.

Joseph Phillips, NSO - VAMC Long Beach, CA:
I spoke with a Veterans widow about A&A.  She said it is difficult for her to travel, she is 82 years old.  I advised her that before I filed the claim I would have to see her in person but for now we can work using e-mail, mail and the phone.  I sent her an e-mail explaining the information I would need and made an appointment for a phone interview next week.  Once I have completed all the forms she will come in to sign them and I will submit the claim.
I spoke with another veteran regarding his waiver.  He believes that there should be a decision by now.  I advised him for the umpteenth time that I have no way of determining how long his claim will take.
My phone calls have died down somewhat.  Veterans continue to complain about wait times in our waiting room.  That is the main reason why I do appointments.  The veterans that I represent rarely have to wait and if they come in early I will see them if possible.
November is National Family Caregiver Month.  Social work services sponsors a Care Giver Resource Fair to be held on November 6th.  The MOPH logo is on the flyer and I will be present for the event.
Tony DeVore, NSO - VARO San Diego, CA:
This week I have met with several clients to discuss their pending claims, also met and discussed with some veterans about filing future claims once evidence has been collected.  Entered in Awards received by the VA.  Attended the TDIU Webinar that was held on Thursday 10/24/13.   I have been training the new AA in VCMS how to enter clients, claims and awards.   I continue to complete and input diary notes from our purged client office files, answer and return telephone calls and follow-up on all emails and research regarding claims.
Arthur Harris, NSO - VARO Oakland, CA:
This week the office has received the normal amount of phone calls.  There have been 4 veterans that have come in for appointments in regards to their claims.  We have updated VCMS reconciliation reports and monthly reports for the month. There was a major protest that took place that effected to VAs ability to perform sending some persons home early.
Tennell Brady, NSO - VARO Los Angeles, CA:
Conducted general office duties including meeting with veterans, updating files and responding to telephone inquires.  Attended the monthly VSO meeting with VA management.  Of note, 600 brokered cases are now in VBMS.  250 to 300 ready to rate cases brokered to Detroit RO ICP.  Also noted were non-rating issues
Conducted an onsite inspection of Sepulveda office this morning, per RFSs request. The office was in order.  Afternoon spent updating files.
2 POAs pending medical evidence is returned at a later day, benefit questions, adding additional evidence, claim update. Assisted a PH recipient with updating his DD-214, and met with a Vet requesting the PH be his advocate but he has to wait until his pending claim is closed. Womens Veterans Rep was looking for a female VSO and asked if Purple Heart would join them for their monthly meetings here at the Medical Center and assisting any female Vets with benefit claims and questions. Once I get all the information and run it pass RFS I would let them know if I will attend.
Ron Quinata, NSO - Guam:
Received CC copies of on-going claims(9), one appeal and 5 decision letters with 1 approved DIC, significantly approved within 21 days(Date submitted, Sep 4, 2013, Approval Decision Ltr dated, Sep 25, 2013). Beats my two previous ones within 30 days.  As a follow-up with veteran out of Pohnpei Island, prepared response(4138) with DBQ on PTSD for Psychologist and forwarded via email.  Received another veteran's request for assistance recently discharged Sept 2013 who is currently establishing residency in the Philippines.  Established dialogue via email to assist him in establishing a FDC.   Continued working/preparing revocation notification letters for veterans(never seen them) who continue to seek other assistance elsewhere.  Continued with office duties, did necessary
telephone follow-ups with veterans reference to letters received especially on 5103s (VCAA Notice Response).
Jay Parker, NSO - VARO Phoenix:
I along with two other organizations met with the Phoenix VAMC Director to discuss C&P Audio exams.  As expected we didnt get much out of it.  But we feel if we keep knocking on the door, we will eventually get satisfaction.  While there we also discussed the difficulty veterans are having getting their VA ID cards.  This is important because the PTSD clinic for example will not see you without the card.
Atended VA/NSO meeting.  There were coaches from four departments updating us on changes in their area.  The change agent updated issues pertaining to SEP and VBMS.  Also attended the SEP by Ron Abrams via telephone.
We of course have been busy with end of month issues from veterans such as are we getting paid on the first.
We picked up six new clients this week because DAV is changing to appointment only.  I made my regular visit to the vet center.  This week I discussed the importance of a paper trail, and of course general office duties and one client received a retro of $30,650.
Cheryl Paden, NSO - VAMC Tucson:
I had trouble this week, SAVAHCS is having work on the cable lines, so I could sign onto VCMS and Cox but I could sign onto citrix but could not sign onto Outlook, MapD, Share or Virtual VA.  I had to contact Lisa or Jay to ask any questions for my Veterans.   I tried to sign onto SEP but the code did not work so I had to reapply, but phoned in for the conference.

I have received messages about their claims pending and 1 to find out what we need to do now because he is not able to work and needs to get to 100%.  I received a call from a client, who received 0 to 100% in 5 months with FDC, he was extremely happy.  I reviewed various decision letters and entered all information into VCMS.

I gave paperwork/homework to Veterans so I can file FDC claims for them.  I filed new claims, VCAA's, requests for C file with STR and military medical records.

I have been preparing packages to take to Coming home on November 9th.   I have also been asked to put a package for death benefits for a client that is in stage 4 cancer.

Responded to several telephone calls and e-mails re status of claims.  Also replied back via e-mail to veteran service liaison for Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, reference requesting attendance of past Purple Heart recipients to Purple Heart ceremony for SFC. Takumi Abe, gave veteran service liaison Thomas Tanaka phone number, also contacted Thomas Tanaka with information.
Met with veteran who is exiting out the service and will be on terminal leave until January 2014, gave veteran Oakland NSO point of contact info also e-mailed Arthur Harris and informed him about veteran.  Received retro payment in the amount of $37,931 for one of  the veterans.
Met with veteran who lives on the big island of Hawaii, he was here for counseling for prostate cancer associated with agent orange exposure, he has a claim pending for this condition.  Helped a veteran with annual clothing allowance form, informed veteran to take form to prosthetics office.  Received VA correspondence letters an award letters for both Honolulu and Guam, mailed out letters to Guam.  Continue input into VCMS of awards, claims, etc.,  general office duties, including making of new files, purging.  Follow-up on pending claims.
Breana King, NSO - VAMC Loma Linda:
Returned phone calls, met with Vets to get claim updates. continued filing, making of new folders, getting my mail out, phone calls, filing, etc.
I signed 6 new POAs and I saw 19 vets for submitting additional evidence, claim update etc.  I also met with a Vet to begin a new claim, pending his PTSD referral before submitting claim.  2 of the POAs have pending medical evidence which will be  returned at a later day.  Responded to benefit questions, adding additional evidence, claim update.   Assisted a PH recipient with updating his DD-214, and met with a Vet requesting the PH be his advocate, but he has to wait until his pending appeal is closed.
Due to car accident Monday, on my way home from work, I was out of the office on Tuesday (10/29/13).
Michael Mullen, NSO - VAMC La Jolla:
For the most part, this was a normal week of answering calls, returning messages, saw a lot of clients, did preliminary work with some veterans to file in the near future, filed claims, submitted evidence, and entered some ratings.   I took POA of 5 new veterans, while filing both new and increase S/C claims, and a few for pension.   I also did some research and review of a veterans original claims, in which Im preparing to file a CUE claim.   Other than that, I completed unpacking and now have my new office in fully functioning order.
Erin Hamlin, NSO - Salt Lake City:
Out sick 10/28/2013
Attended 1 BVA Hearing, and 1 RVSR Hearing, where the RVSR has already informed us that she is going to rule in our favor.  I returned and made several phone calls.  Also, now that the shutdown has finished, things have picked up with the promulgation of Rating Decision and several that were still pending were finally closed out.  I had two new POAs, 15 BDD/PLCP Rating Decisions and no PLCP SOCs.

Fw: Scotty

From National Commander Siebel

Date: Mon, 4 Nov 2013 21:26:36 +0000

I just had another phone conversation with Scotty McKenzie. He is doing "OK" but has still not had the surgery he needs. He is on special medication to strengthen his heart but seems in good spirits and is able to carry on a good conversation.

The Holiday season is just around the corner and family time is precious time. Let's keep our prayers going for "all" of our members and their loved ones who need some special help. Thanks,---Ron
