FW: Photo: Purple Hearth County

I was asked to forward you a photo taken during last night’s County Board of Supervisors meeting. During the Tuesday meeting, the Board proclaimed Coconino as a Purple Heart County. The designation is the first for an Arizona county and recognizes our veterans who were wounded and earned the Purple Heart Medal serving the country.

I’ve also attached an unsigned copy of the proclamation issued last night in case you need further cutline info.

Pictured are:
(Back row left to right) County Supervisor Art Babbott, Supervisor Lena Fowler, Supervisor Liz Archuleta, Supervisor Mandy Metzger and Supervisor Matt Ryan.

(Front row left to right) Mike Hays, Chaplain, Scottish Military Society, Chapter 2000; George Shoemaker, National Adjutant of Scottish Military Society, Chapter 2000; Steve Beeler, Commander, Scottish Military Society, Chapter 2000; Lupe Velasco, Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Post 793; Billy Weldon, State Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Post 793; Andrew Griffin, (ret.) Lt. Colonel US Army, currently director of Office of Military Affairs, NAU; Rex Stermer, Commander Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1709

Let me know if you need anything further.

Thanks,
